67% of smartphone users prefer Google Maps, will they find their business there?

A new survey revealed that Google Maps is the clear leader when it comes to navigation applications. In fact, more than two thirds or 67% of respondents say they use it more often than other options.

The report says that Google Maps is 6 times more popular than the next most used navigation application, Waze. Also owned by Google, the application has an adoption rate of only 12% among respondents. Apple Maps ranks third with an adoption rate of 11% and MapQuest ranks fourth with 8%.

  The Importance of Google Maps for Small Businesses

The survey and report were meant to help businesses understand the importance of mobile browsing applications to attract potential customers. As a small business, making your business available in Google Maps or another application allows your customers to easily find it on their mobile devices.

The survey was conducted by The Manifest with the participation of 511 smartphone owners who use at least three different applications each day. The vast majority of respondents or 72% were women, with people aged 25 to 34 representing the largest percentage of participants at 28%. Other groups that participated in the survey included people between 35 and 44 years old with 21%, people between 45 and 54 years old with 18%, between 18 and 24 years old with 15%, between 55 and 64 years old with 12% , and those over 65 at 5%.

So, how are people using the navigation applications?

In general, 77% of respondents said they regularly use navigation applications. And when they do, 90% said it was for driving directions. (Not surprising)

Meanwhile, 36% of respondents said they use navigation applications to search for directions before leaving, while 34% said they use it to navigate en route to their destination. Another 30% said they do both.

What about driverless navigation?

Navigation applications are primarily used while people are driving, but they are also used to get directions when walking, cycling or using public transportation, the survey said.

The survey badyzed which regions of the country use navigation applications more often for these purposes. In the Northeast, 24% use applications for purposes other than navigation while driving. In the Midwest and West, 12% of respondents use navigation applications for these purposes, and in the South only 8% do so.

As According to this survey, Google Maps is the most used navigation application in the market. This means that probably more of your customers are using it to find your place or business than any other navigation application. By having your business on the platform, it becomes more accessible.

And accessing Google Maps requires only three steps.

  1. Apply for your business by going to Google My Business and clicking on "Enter Google", after which you will take Google Maps to enter your company information.
  2. Add your business and additional information there.
  3. Check your list of companies.

Your company is now part of Google Maps. So even without a website, your customers will be able to find it online.
