A Delaware woman was unconscious while on vacation in January in the Dominican Republic, according to her viral post on Facebook.
Tammy Lawrence-Daley of Wilmington, Delaware, published a full report of her trip on Wednesday, which ended with a five-day hospitalization. She says the attack almost killed her, reports the Delaware News Journal, which is part of the USA TODAY network.
"They kicked me in the head, they beat me with a stick," Lawrence-Daley wrote. "And then strangled again by death."
Lawrence-Daley shared the account along with three photographs: one that shows her normal appearance and two of her in a hospital bed with bruises and significant cuts on her face. The publication has received more than 146,000 shares on Facebook.
The attack took place at the Majestic Elegance Resort where Lawrence-Daley, her husband and two friends were staying, according to the Facebook publication. She said her attacker was wearing a uniform with the resort logo, but because she could not identify the attacker, the resort is not responsible.
A representative of Majestic Elegance declined to comment after Facebook's publication went viral and said on Thursday that an official statement will be released soon.
On the second day of their trip, Lawrence-Daley and his group returned to their rooms around 10:30 p.m. After attending a show, according to the post. She said that she then called room service several times, but was told that they were no longer serving.
She told her husband that she was going to the living room in her building to buy a sandwich, but, according to the mail, she decided to go through the living room to the living room in the next building, which was on the beach , to get pictures of the moon in the water
It was at the roundabout between the two buildings, says Lawrence-Daley, that a man "hit her from behind" and took her to an unopened maintenance room.
"As I pbaded the rotunda between the buildings, I noticed that there was no one in the hallway," Lawrence-Daley wrote. "It's not very strange, but it's still eerily silent, I took about 10 or more steps and I just swung my wristband from one side to the other, without worrying about anything in the world."
"That's when I heard it, heavy steps, one, two, three, four, then accelerated, and then, before I could react, I was plowed from behind and immobilized immediately."
For the next eight hours, Lawrence-Daley said she was strangled several times until she was unconscious. She refrained from sharing all the "bloody details," according to the publication.
"My lifeless body was a concrete drug stairway to an underground area of sewage," Lawrence-Daley wrote. "He disposed of my body in an area that I refer to as the" hole. "
"I was unconscious several times during this savage attack, so I have no idea what else they did to me during that time, somehow I survived, once again, I will not get into all the hell I went through basically being 'buried' # 39; In that hell for so many hours. "
According to the publication, Lawrence-Daley spent the next five days in an external hospital and underwent surgery. She said she is still dealing with several problems, including nerve damage. She said that she has badumed all medical expenses.
Lawrence-Daley said her husband and friends asked the front desk to look for her three times before security sent a team to the beach.
"Security at Majestic Elegance thought I was drunk somewhere," Lawrence-Daley wrote.
Lawrence-Daley said he shared his story to raise awareness among women and prevent what happened to her from happening to others.
"This man thought he killed me, but he failed, he's still out there, a predator, waiting for his next victim, only the next woman may not be so lucky."
