Lena Waithe responds to claims she knew about Jason Mitchell's misconduct

The Chi has been under fire for the past few weeks as allegations of misconduct have arisen over Jason Mitchell, the star of the Showtime series.

As a result of these allegations, Mitchell will no longer be part of the program.

What accusations have been filed against Mitchell?

Tiffany Boone, who plays Mitchell's girlfriend on the show, along with several other actresses, has denounced badual harbadment against Mitchell.

The actress supposedly felt so insecure at times that she would have her fiancee, Mark Richardson, come on the scene when she would have to shoot with Mitchell, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Boone finally informed the producers of Fox 21 that he could no longer work with Mitchell and was allowed to leave his contract

Did Lena Waithe know about bad behavior?

Lena Waithe, the creator of the program, received a violent reaction for not doing more about Mitchell before.

She recently continued The breakfast club to address these claims and what really happened on the set.

Waithe claimed that he had been informed of the accusations against Mitchell after the first season of the program. To combat this, he hired Ayanna Floyd as the executor of the second season. She believed that hiring a black woman as a showrunner would have created a safer environment for the actresses on set.

"I do not want to say that women are exempt from doing things, but I think it would make the environment safer," Waithe said. "That was my guess."

But Mitchell's behavior did not change.

"I do not regret having turned a black woman into a runner," he continued. "I regret trusting her to handle everything by herself."

What did Waithe do when he heard the accusations?

In addition to bringing a new showrunner between seasons, Waithe also spoke with Mitchell about his behavior.

"There was definitely a conversation in which I called him and I became really real," he told radio presenters. "You have to be respectful to any woman on the set, you need to be respectful to everyone, do not treat any woman differently than you would treat me."

But ultimately, Waithe's hands were a little tied since he does not have the last word on the cast.

"I do not have the power to fire anyone," Waithe said. "I do not, I wish I had. The Chi. I created it I sold it. I could be fired The Chi… People do not understand that. "

What does Waithe have to say to the critics?

Even though his methods of solving the problem did not work out, Waithe does not feel like he is standing still while Mitchell terrorizes his costars.

"For someone to say it, I would be left waiting while a woman is being mistreated or harbaded and not doing anything is simply not true," he continued. "I was trying to put people in power to change, but in the end that was not the answer, I'm always the answer and that's the most important lesson I've learned in all this."

"I wish I had handled the situation differently, and I would like to have done more," he said.
